I am considering a maple neck for a strat style guitar. Does anyone know of a compelling reason to go with the 1 piece over the 2 piece? Is it just a matter
of vintage styling or is there an effect on the sound? Also, is it worth the extra money for 1/4 sawn if I'm planning on a relatively beefy '54
contour?

I was wondering how a compound radius fingerboard such as the recommended 7-1/4" to 9-1/2" would work with a set of staggered pickups such as the
fender custom shop 69s. Would the flatter radius be a problem since I presume the stagger is calculated with a pure 7-1/4" radius in mind? Will there be
any noticeable difference in sound when compared to a pure 7-1/4" radius? Thanks.

I really love the sound of this LP jr. The single pickup and drive is very nice. I have changed out the tuners and put a new adjustable bridge and
adjusted for intonation. It will stay in tune now.

My question is has anyone replaced a bolt on neck on one of these little axes? If you just hold it wrong you can change the tune. Bending strings is cool but
this neck thing is really a shame. It's like its made of monkey wood. I have checked the hardware at the steel plate...

Ok, obviously for a vintage-style 6-hole trem nothing beats the Callaham (if you like vintage specs).

But for a 2-post system, after a long search, I have found the perfect trem: the Gotoh 510TS.
It has a big, unpainted(!) milled steel block and comes with a pop-in arm that has no wiggle and no noise.
It's available with vintage style bent (Gotoh 510TS-SF1) or solid (Gotoh 510TS-FE1) steel saddles.

I bought the vintage style version.
Absolutely superb...

Hi folks,
I've been given (yes, Christmas comes early!) parts from an early G&L ASAT Special.
(a) Neck - standard G&L type.
(b) Pickups - M.F.D.(the rectangular P-90 shaped ones)
(c) Bridge - G&L Saddle Lock type (top-loading type)

Unfortunately, no body! I'd like to create a "deluxe" version of this ASAT (i.e., chambered body, flame top, etc.). Question. Can I order
a body from USACG to properly retro-fit these G&L parts...

The reason for this is that I played a couple of the newer Les Pauls which are hollowed out and I really liked what I heard.

Right now if I were in the market for a new LP I'd definitely buy a hollow one over a solid one.

I wonder if the Strat version would enthrill me equally.

Fender says it's a "c" neck but it feels more like a soft "v" neck to me.
