Regarding the flat radius, acoustic guitars have 16-20" radius and I don't see anyone complaining really, though they are a bit harder to play. The American Standard is 1 11/16" at the nut but is not really fat....

If it felt good you don't wanna go higher (or lower), if it felt just a bit tight, you'd want to opt for a 1 - 11/16th nut width.
A little wider at the nut makes for a totally different feel IMO. The neck will definitely feel a bit larger.

As for board radii, I find a well made and well fretted neck with the right amount of fall away (such as a USACG neck) will refuse to choke out, even in something such as a 7.25 - 9.50 compound radius.
