Ah, the dreaded G.A.S. has struck again, and I'm thinking, and that's dangerous.

I'd love to do an Esquire design, but with a humbucker in the bridge. (Note: When I say "Esquire," I mean Esquire in shape only, not tone.)
Here's the sticky part: I'd love to use a Bigsby B5, as well, whose hardware--as far as I know--only is compatible with single-coils.

Has anyone ever tried cutting/grinding/milling out the Bigsby B5 bridgeplate to accomodate a humbucker?...

Here's another quick question, following this idea: Does a standard-sized humbucker ring fit into the notch in a Tele pickguard? I saw an example in the
"Customer Pics" section of the website, but I didn't know if it was a custom job or not. Thanks!

Thanks much, folks. Yeah, I confess that one of my primary motivations in this project is simply the look of it--I don't know why, but I love the look of
the Bigsby together with the Tele bridge plate. Thus, I'm hesitant to ditch the bridge plate, even as I realize that it would improve functionality and
(quite possibly) tone.

Nevertheless, your points are completely valid. Maybe I could fabricate something myself that would be similar to a bridge plate, yet still allow the...

If you're not going for regular Tele tone, I'd say forget about the bridge plate, and use a Bigsby model for use with a Tune-o-matic bridge.

Hi, the additional base plate/pickup mounting plate for adapting the B5 to a Tele has extra screw holes for mounting the plate right where you don't want
them if you were going to machine out a humbucker sized hole. You could possibly hide these by covering them with a flat metal humbucker surround ring (which
may fit depending on the width dimension of the plate and the ring) on top of the plate which would also mount the humbucker or you could simply dispense with
the plate altogether...
