And the guitar had the regular strat pup configuration.

I am not really into the game (why spend time trying to learn how to "play" when I can practice on a real guitar?) but for some reason I looked at the cover art and there it was.
The guitar player holding what looked like a sunburst strat or clone 'cause I think it had only one humbucker. The Squier logo was on the headstock.
