I use 15K or 20K ohm for both neck and bridge pickups. You keep more bass with the bigger values. Of course you might also try a 0.01F cap (or any value you like)." |

Bill's review of the new Reverend Goblin amp (BL) Conflicting signals on 465/450 difference/sameness... (contribution by BL) Humbuckers (BL) Tempered Pole-Piece Spacing (contribution by BL) Twang (contribution by BL) From Bill: "The basic timbre of a pickup depends on the non linearity of the core and it's magnetic window." "Soft core pickups - enhance the lows" "Hard core Hi Q tempered steel - ballanced lows and highs" "Alnico core pickups - like hard core, but require 40% more turns to achieve the same inductance" "Pickups by themselves don't distort. Distortion depends on the resonance as result of inductance and capacitance. Jimi Hendrix was under the impression that his cable was boosting the lower mids to distort the sound. He was using a coilcord with 2.6 nano F capacitance resulting with 2.4 H pickups in a resonance at 2.0 KHz" From Bill: "I .... tested a 2.8 Henry L-500 in the bridge position: average output 120 mv. With a filter 1.2 H in series with a 3.3 nano F cap and the control on zero the output reaches 400mv between 1000 and 2000 Hz. To get the same versatility out of an L-500XL you need 2 mega ohm controls and a cable not longer than 1 meter." |

All these links are like a round-about to the forum home, can this be fixed?

Unfortunately, that's what you get when ezboard forces an "upgrade" to Yuku. Migration of data is not an ezboard strongpoint. Content
preservation has never been a priority for them. It could be fixed by someone hunting for all these threads and updating the links, but it's a lot of work,
and I'm not going to be undertaking such a task anytime soon.
In the meantime, I can only suggest entering the link title info into the Yuku search feature.

I'm trying to find the "Nut Cuts" contribution by Bill. Using "nut cuts" or "+nut +cuts" for the search terms brings up 3
pages of results, which I browsed pretty thoroughly, but I can't find the post. Are the post or the thread supposed to have "Nut Cuts" in the
subject line, or could it be anything? Really curious to know what Bill had to teach us on the subject...
