Palladium Charter Member Resident Hair Metalmaster	Tags : None ..on guitar that is Im trying to learn the seven Slash-licks from Total Guitar I was telling you about in another thread. I figured by the time Ive saved up enough cash to get me a Les Paul type guitar Ill be able to play them all. Im also working a bit on my singing/performing. Me and a few friends are going camping so I thought Id bring my beater acoustic and play some songs.

Posts: 1156 Thu, Jun 19, 2003 06:11:18 Contributing Palladium Member Resident Jazzmaster	Very nice tune old tele man. Are you getting very close to Charlie Byrd's version with Stan Getz? Are you taking Desafinado off a record or using a Real Book? I use to play quite a few Bossa's myself in my younger days. They're the kind of songs that you can play and float off into space, some real pretty melodies. Even it's often played as a sappy pop tune I still love to play the "Girl From Ipanema" and the more jazz related tune "Insenstez" (how insensitive). As for what I'm doing right now, I'm working my way thru transcribing eight Cd's worth of classic sides of Johnny Smith, trying to capture some of the beautiful chords and avoid tendonitis at the same time.

(- riffs, fill ins, solos) I also try to memorize the chords to "I dont know how to love him" , just cause my wife likes to sing it and when so I have to peek in to the papers. And as always i just play and fool around on the instrument, from where I sometimes get short melodic and harmonic ideas. Those I do not forget are then used to create anew "song" of mine in the longrun.

Posts: 672 Fri, Jun 20, 2003 03:40:51 Bronze Charter Member Resident Amp Guru	am trying to reconcile the sheet music (key of F) with some 'transcribed' chords (key of D) which are supposed to be "direct from the recording." Getz played the same songs in just about EVERY key, as I've heard at least three different keys for One Note Samba.
