I'm not kidding, nor am I axaggerating. That thing is as light as a feather (well almost) - lighter than any 1-piece Maple or Maple/Rosewood neck I ever had.

When you tap it - the tone really resembles a wooden xylophone - it's much brighter than the tapped tone of all my Maple necks - but not metallic sounding, really woody & it lasts longer and also has this ring like a bell to it (I know bell and wood would be like opposites - but it's truly like a mixture of wooden tone with the ringing sustain of a bell - of course it doesn't sustain nearly that long - but much longer than any Maple neck I tapped before in my life).
I'm truly stunned by the tap tone of this neck

Tommy has a guy that stocks rosewood blanks big enough for a neck now. So he can probably check with him.
But his guy has only Indian or Madagascar RW (the latter one getting rare).
Well, it was a really special order on my behalf - I wanted real private stock stuff and I was prepared to pay for it.
Tommy searched through a lot of stuff to get me those 2 beautiful pieces of RW for the backing wood and fretboard, and the outcome has been simply mindblowing.
Anyway, I guess you can get a little cheaper than what I paid if you get more "ordinary" looking pieces, but if you want the same super-mad private stock looking stuff, expect to be set back about $450 just for the neck (shipping excluded). It could be more or less depending on what inlays you want, what scale you go for, custom taper, custom options etc.
Also, don't forget that I went for the harder-to-get Madagascar RW. Indian will be cheaper.

To be honest though the competition is waaaaaaaaay more expensive on these all-RW necks. They often charge twice the price I paid, and their stuff doesn't even look half as good as this neck.
So come to think of it, this neck was a steal!
