I have a Tele Thinline body from USACG, 1 f-hole, mahogany with maple top, humbucker neck and single coil bridge routed. The neck, already finished at USACG, is also mahogany with PF fretboard (unfinished). Neck is vintage satin finish. Guitar will have Bill Lawrence pickups and wish to maintain superior tone.
QUESTION: Does an acrylic paint finish vs. a lacquer paint affect tone? I have read so many reports (mostly that acrylics tend to dampen tones), and am unable to separate fact from fiction. I would like to have a design painted onto the body, but now not so sure at the expense of any tone issues. I trust just a simple stain and lacquer finish would not adversely affect tone?
Appreciate all help from the readers.
