I would have given up on most companies long ago, but I want to try these pickups - their reputation is so good. Lucky that I have another guitar... I emailed becky@ today, and got an over-quota bounce. Then I came here and emailed mailorders@ as it says at the top of the forum, and it bounced again - "no mailbox by that name". This is really unprofessional - it is not like email is difficult to get right. If they're not going to be read or answered, then the option to email shouldn't be available. I'm a computer scientist and offer my help to Becky and Bill to get things sorted - reading the forums it's not just me who's frustrated by this. Without further ado, here's my email that bounced and I hope that someone is reading... Hi, My previous emails seem to go missing. I'd like to fit out a Fat Strat with L-280s neck and middle, and a L-600 in the neck. I need versatility, but I do play mostly rock and metal. I'm not looking to bludgeon the audience into submission, but a balanced rocking edge would be great. With this in mind, do you think I should go for the 4.8H or 6.4H L-450? I'm worried that the 6.4 won't balance well with the L-280s. Can I have an all-in price please including shipping to the UK, and then I can sort out some Paypal etc. Looking forward to your prompt response. Regards, Antony

As regards 4.8H vs. 6.4H: I have a H/S/S guitar that has L-280SN, L-280SM and had an L-450FL48. The 4.8H humbucker will be louder than the L-280s but not overpowering. If you play mostly rock and metal then 6.4H to me appears to be the better choice. The 4.8H is very clean and clear and IMHO not specifically suited for heavier sounds. For this purpose the higher H L-500s immediately come to mind although they are said to not really balance well with the L-280s. If a heavy tone from the bridge pickup is a must then you got to strike a compromise in balance if you stay with the L-280s or maybe look at different pickups for the single coil slots. I've tried calling Bill and Becky several times over the last few years from here in the UK, mostly gotten voicemail, and never had a call back. So you think the 6.4H L-600 would be a smart choice for my application? I could even consider the 8.8 but surely that will be overkill compared to the L-280s in the neck and middle. I could consider going for L-280s all around - I have H/S/H in another guitar. It's just that I've gotten used to the heat of a humbucker at the bridge, and of course a humbucker can be coil-tapped whereas a single-coil is just that. Also, where are the prices? I've looked online but it's so difficult to find this very basic info.

Interestingly, my last e-mail in the folder last night was from a friend who sent me some pics of one of yours from England - Stu G with Delirious -- who is using one of my very favorite set-ups in the Telecaster -- The L-609's! That, along with all that nasty spam, clogged up the folder for a about 12 hours, but all is well now. I'm ready to send a Paypal ordering notice to you -- just contact me with your e-mail address. We agree with darkbluemurder, we suggest the L-280SN/M and L-600FL 6.4 Henry, and I'll send a couple of nickels for you to set-up the pickups using Bill's nickel method for height adjustment - very cool! The good thing about all this is that you are a persistent person and even though you haven't gotten Bill's pickups yet, we've taken and shipped thousands of other orders over the past three years! Posts: 1 Mon, Jun 29, 2009 20:28:41	hi becky!!! i'd like to get in touch with you but i can't do it in any way... nor mail or by phone... so i try writing in this forum... maybe it will work.. i'd like to try a pair of l 90 in a shecter strat like... i think 8h at the bridge and 6h or 4h at neck... if i m not wrong... i play from electric jazz to a sort of metal avant garde so sometimes i need a loud output... and i'd like to get a l500xl cause i use to have one in my previous giutar and it was amazing... so i think that if i like better the l500 i just put this one at bridge and the l90 8h at neck to get a good balance... well... forgive my bad english cause i'm writing from italy and just tell me what i have to do to place this order... and if you think it is a good choise... all the infos i got are from this forum and so... thanx to all u guys!!! well the thing is that i'd like to get a very hot sound from my guitar... my email is beddamatrix@hotmail.com grazie!!!

Add shipping cost and pay the total via PayPal. You can hardly go wrong with an L-90 4H/8H pair. It's a brilliant combination. IMO a 8H version in neck position is overkill, even with a L-500XL in bridge position.

Posts: 29 Wed, Jul 1, 2009 01:06:18	Beddamatrix, Fuzzy was giving you an alert, because depending on the type bridge you have you may need pickup rings of diferent heights. For instance I have a Jackson Dinky with floyd rose and the bridge pickup is mounted in a short ring. Guitars as the likes of PRS have both pickup rings of the same height (short). On the other hand, I used to have a Ibanez with fixed bridge, like a Les Paul and it needed a tall ring for the bridge and a short ring for the neck. Posts: 3 Wed, Jul 1, 2009 01:38:40	thanks for the link... it's very helpfull. i have to put the pups in a shecter omen extreme 24 frets... a cheap corean guitar that is really very well made... it's a strat like with a sort of tune o matic so i think i'd need a tall ring at the bridge and short at neck, am i right? i really thank you all so much!!! and for instance, in that paypal page... in the place of the description i have to write l-90 4h short ring l 90 8h tall ring? right? just to know how to make the order... and what about the q-filter... how can i get one? there s no indication at all in the site but in this forum some say that they got it from bill... and is it worth to put a q filter with high inductance pick ups? thanks again... you re really helping me and i think i'll sort it out

Beddamatrix Haven´t you got the schecter yet? It´s very easy to visually check the difference between the mounting rings. I checked this site: http://www.schecterforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=97 It seems that the scheter omen 6 with fixed bridge have different rings. Regards
