I don't like Carvin necks because they are thin with wide nuts and a flat radius. Thin necks cramp my hand with extended playing, wide nuts make it hard to reach my thumb around, and the flat radius is uncomfortable for chording.

I'm really itching to use the '54 contour when I ever get around to another project. I think the soft V down low and the C up high will be great for chording and leads.

My S has the SSV with a thickness of .900 at the nut and the vintage 1 5/8" nut width. It's a baseball bat, but it fits my hand quite nicely. I nearly always wrap my thumb around, except for barre chords.

I think the '54 with the vintage nut width would work well for you. It's chunky, but not huge, will fill your palm, you can reach your thumb around, and it'll work great with the Glendale.
