I guess it would depend on why you're asking. I suppose if you wanted a semi-hollow Tele to somehow sound like a solid Tele, then I guess slightly different pickups could help get you down that path. Exactly how different and in exactly what way is tough to say.

Then again, it's my understanding that traditional Teles, whether solid ash or alder or semi-hollow ash or mahogany, tended to have traditional Tele pickups. They obviously may vary due to production inconsistencies and year to year design tweaks, but they were basically Tele pickups. The guitars sound different because they're made different - as well they should.

What's the point of buying a semi-hollow Tele if you want it to sound like a solid Tele?
