Youll need a full-range rig to notice significant effect on the Strat neck and middle pups, but it should be more than on or off. Through a traditional guitar rig, I find the Strat pups in general to be the least responsive to the Q-Filter; the bridge pickups being the exception. The 298SL was made to be deployed with the Q-Filter. The deviation from the standard Strat controls also needs to be thought out, as the resistance loading plays a significant part in the sound and tone, and the range that the Q-Filter offers. Unfortunately, I think these two aspects have opposing requirements, especially if you are seeking classic underlying tone.
