AFAIK, the principle is different from a normal tone pot. I currently use the switches from Mr. Lemme and my own; they work great and are inexpensive. It's easy to get a good jazzy sound from Bill's L-280s, without the mud of normal tone pots.

One important thing, however, is to have a resistor of about 10M in parallel to each cap to get rid of clicking noises in the switch. Lemme has these resistors, but on the tonestyler website, you can see their PCB, and I can't see the necessary number of components for 14 switching positions. Then again, perhaps they use a rotary switch with a different behaviour, so that the resistors aren't needed. It would be interesting to get some info on that.
