The reason I was so interested in the partial coil tap idea was that it was described in an interview by Brinsley Schwartz, who some may remember as the name of a band, but who is now head guitar tech at Chandler Guitars in the UK, who do tech stuff for all sorts of famous people such as Eric Clapton (and thus can't be THAT bad, obviously) and who incidentally sell the most interesting range of effects and other goodies I've ever seen on one web site! I reckoned that the partial coiltap might be a really good thing to do, but then if it effectively takes turns off the coil of a pickup, that is what the Q-filter does anyway. (Another idea would be to try a Q-filter with two different resistors and have a switch that switches between them, probably using the two values Bill suggests on the Q-filter diagram.) R
