Tommy,

WEIGHT:
Maple weight is perfect.

COLOR:
The colour of that 12-string fb looks quite golden with a slight orange tinge. Right now my thoughts for finishing the body run to orange shellac, so it might be a nice contrast. Alternatively, goncalo for the neck with a nice stripy pao ferro board.

TONE:
Maple with a hair more mids is probably as good as anything tonally. I've been thinking mahogany with a maple fb, or mahogany (or maple) with pao ferro, so in that context, it's probably no worse. And, as the 69 Thinline Tele has a mahogany body mated to a one-piece maple neck, this is probably worth a shot.

Do you see anything wrong with my logic here?

(Btw, pups are going to be the BL 290TLE (hot Fender single coil/P-90 hybrid) in the bridge and a 450 (rich single coil tone) in the neck, with a Q-Filter.)
