I had gone to Guitar Center and played a bunch of guitars to get the feel for some of the different necks and shapes, etc. My favorite was the Music Man, which has the asymmetrical neck, though it was a bit thin for my taste, which is how I (we) came to decide on that thickness, etc.

The upcharge was approximately $100 for the 5A, though apparently it can vary. Tommy is sending along some scrap wood for me to test the dyes on, which is another great bonus.

Bluenote, you have the Callaham vintage trem on your guitar, right? How do you like it? Any issues? Or is it as good as everyone says? That's what I'm planning on using, though it's the other thing I have been debating. I am having last minute "call and change it" fears, just because it's been a while since I played a vintage style bridge, and the ones I've played were cheap... Should I stick with my original plan? lol

Thanks!
