The wiring diagrams and the desciptions might be a bit confusing, but essentially they all describe the same Q-filter wiring (or EQ-wiring) as Old Tele Man's diagram. Bill is referring to EQ1 and EQ2, but these terms describe the same circuit, just with different values of the resistor (10k or 25k). I doubt that it is useful to implement switching between EQ1 and EQ2, but if you want to do that, it's very easy to switch between two resistors with a push-pull pot.

For the L-filter, the coil is attached to the pot without an R and a C, like a tone cap. You could try that as well, but the standard configuration is the one with R & C.

I recommend to follow Bill's diagram (or the computer drawing by Vito) to get a pot which alternates between standard tone and Q-filter functionality.
