Interesting thoughts! Still leaves me wondering why the NECK single coil on my Steinberger GM5T, and on some other guitars such as the Fender Lead 2 were also slanted in favour of the bass strings? These guitars were designed in the 80s.

I certainly have to adjust the pickup height downward on the bass side to compensate, but I usually have to do that anyway with Bill's pickups.

The wave amplitude effect that TPaul describes concerning the bridge pickup is probably not an issue at the neck. My guess is that the pickup slant at the neck makes little difference to the sound - just looks funky!?
