I forgot about the shorter scale, which makes me even more convinced that s.ash is the way to go.

I would not normally recommend s.ash for a Strat, but yours is not a traditional Strat, and nor are you aiming for one.

All-rosewood 25"-scale neck, plus dark buckers, begs for a s.ash body, IMO, especially when you are already thinking maple over mahogany. Why use two woods when one can deliver, and dare I say, deliver better? But, if you insisted on using two woods, I'd personally suggest s.ash over mahogany...however, that's not what I'm recommending.
