Took me forever to reply, sorry about that...

So I've been playing my new guitar for a while now and I must say I've never played anything that comfortable. I went for the E.B. asymmetrical contour (0.850) and I'm very glad I did! I play with my thumb wrapped around the neck a lot, which works great because the thick bass side of the neck gives you a bit more wood to hold on to. At the same time you have a bit more freedom for the rest of your fingers on the treble side. When I picked up the guitar I didn't really notice the asymmetrical neck. It's not like you start playing and think "woow, that's so different". It's more like "ooh, i like the neck on that one".

Before I got the parts, I was worried that I wouldn't like the feel of the neck when playing with my thumb on the back of the neck. I thought it would be strange because the surface was "crooked" - but I don't feel that at all.

It does have one drawback though. After playing the new guitar for a long time, it was a bit strange going back to my acoustic guitar, which has a thicker, maybe even U-shaped neck. But it's not like I can't play on it anymore. It's just less comfortable.

I can't say whether the neck feels thicker or thinner than a C-shaped 0.850, since my other guitars have very different necks...

Sorry this post is a bit hand-wavy, but the whole issue is very subjective and probably differs greatly from player to player. I can only say that I love the neck, I would get another one just like it and I would recommend it for someone with a similar playing style (thumb wrapped around often).

Hope that helps anyone!
