I don't think the L45 would be substantially "hotter" than the L298. The plan for the L-45s last time I discussed it with Bill was to keep the inductance to about standard Strat level and provide a couple capacitors for the player to drop the resonance to preference, as opposed to offering alternative a couple potential bridge matchups as was done with the 280s and 200s. This method also doesn't dampen the highs the way adding inductance would. If you've heard them, the smoothness of the response comes from the carefully balanced bladed design, not pushing the amp for compression.

In any case, I assume you would have to talk to the Lawrences if you wanted to change an order.
