Personally, I'm happy with my NF PUP's. I don't care if they are considered real singlecoils, or not. I just care if I like the way they shape sound. True dat, whether someone likes something, or not is their business. However, no one can assume that "singlecoil" means a specific sound: especially in this age of so many single coil sounds.

blfsh, you make some good points about perception. Regarding the reality, I tend to follow the evidence. All evidence shows that perception, and reality are entirely two different things: our perception has no bearing on reality, whatsoever. Only the likes of Zeus and Athena have such power. The human ear works the same way for everyone, unless they have some damage.

Many musicians have suffered some hearing loss. Therefore, they can no longer adequately judge sounds. One can not have an opinion on what they can not hear. I am so glad that my past exposure in loud rehearsals has not caused me such a loss. The thing about perception is: we can convince our brain that we enjoy the sound of a jet engine from 1 meter away, but we will soon cease to hear anything.

As for the rest of my post, I only seek to dispel rumors about the NF series "not sounding like real single coils". If people casually spread such rumors, they are not only disseminating disinformation, but are actually disparaging a company that has outstanding: designs, quality, service, and business practices. It's not about the data, itself. In knowing what to listen for, we can learn to appreciate that which we were missing. With the MC's, people will certainly be hearing a lot of what they were missing. Of course, they may not like what they hear. I'll leave it at that.
