I agree about the advances Peavey has made over the decades, and the new modeling tech is no exception. I had a Peavey Musician amp back in the 70's. What a hunk a junk that was. Then, I got a used Heritage 2x12" combo in the late 80's. That thing sounded fantastic, provided I didn't drive the amp section too hard where the shattering glass 6L6 breakup reared it's ugly head. Nice fat tones with the gain and master at ~7 as I recall. The mid frequency shift and manual phase shifter option where very handy.

I didn't know the Vypry's use analog distortion. In any case, the guitar itself might end up damping the highs and lows in a way that leaves a peak in the harsh ~3kHz range. Various internal damping qualities can conspire to produce such a thing. Different bridge materials like Brass or Aluminum, and even using Polycarbonate pick/washers in the neck joint can alter the guitar sound significantly, but try the low C cable first. I always mention this as well, but BL had advised me to cut my 12' Monster cable in half when I first asked him about his pickups. I did it and it solved the issue with the original DiMarzio HB in my Parker NiteFly. I opted for a set of his NF's anyway, and am very pleased with the results. I have samples of them and the Microcoils through my S-Gear modeler presets here for comparison: http://guitarsbyfender.yuku.com/topic/11419/Microcoils-in-SX-Hawk-mod-full-report
