The neck position should be fine with the spacing.

The L200 will work perfectly well - both the L200 and L600 are Alnico-poled.

Caps typically work better with lower inductance pickups, and you typically want to know cable capacitance if you get above the 2.8H range. Total capacitance should be around 2200 pF for a resonance around 1800 Hz. Even if you had half of that total, however, you'd still land around 2500 Hz. Any range in there is going to be not too far from what you're looking for.

How long is your cable and who makes it? A typical cable capacitance might be close to 50 or 60 pF/ft, so if we even know the length, we can probably guess down the middle for what cap might work.
