From what Bill had told me about it. I don't know for sure, but if the field is weaker than V at the same length, it might not loop back around as sharply, so it would spread out more evenly above the coil, init? No big deal, just curious.

Since AlNiCo II is isotropic, maybe there is a way to spread the field at the ends of a pole by spinning it within a concave field, or something? It may be worth looking into if the answer is unknown and there had yet to be a need to do it.
