That would be a great idea Becky. It occurred to me that considering Jason Lollar's experience with Steel base plates on Strat pickups, Bill's article may have assumed a Tele bridge plate as part of the equation:

A pickup mounting bracket of some type may be required for the desired affect. GFS has Brass brackets:

You could get a set, and I'd guess it wouldn't affect the other pickups without the base plate. Having just one bracket at the bridge is actually kind of cool though. It indicates that it's “special”, and gives the guitar an asymmetric personalized look. It might be possible to mount a bracket under the pickguard, but it may need to be mounted at the middle of the coil for it to work. The MC coil is probably mostly above the pickguard at the bridge position. Sorry I didn't catch this before, but I don't think anyone knows the answers, so someone has to try it. I'll experiment at some point with a spare Strat pickup, but it may be a while before I have some results.
