It needed a few more clear coats and polish but I've been busy with other stuff. Finally decided to put them all together for good cos it was getting all "relic'ed" from banging around in the room. I'm glad I did, it plays like a dream and weighs only 2.5kg. Neck: USACG Baritone scale telecaster, Mahogany with Macassar Ebony fretboard. Abalone inlay. Stained rosewood colour and oil finished with Colron Danish oil. Body: USACG Thinline Tele, Alder with wild maple top. Water based fabric dye "Dylon" stained top with dull lacquer aerosol coat. Electronics: GFS tele pickup set. 3 way toggle, 1 volume 250k, 1 tone 500k, 360pF treble bleed polystyrene cap and 0.022uF tone cap. Neutrik locking panel socket. Hardware: Wilkinson compensated saddle bridge from GFS. Planetwaves locking tuners. TusQ preslotted nut. Triple strap button, now the guitar stands like it should! Stainless steel screws used wherever possible. Strings: Elixir baritone set.

Posts: 88 Thu, Dec 4, 2008 17:54:00	Looks great. I especially like the maple top with the dye color chosen. Very Nice color array with the pickguard and East Indian ebony board, very well married. Very pleased to hear you found a mahogany neck stiff enough to serve well on a baritone. I'm not all that familiar with baritones. I'm wondering if you or any of the others here would comment about what they do and don't like build and function-wise on that pretty trans blue ash USACG baritone for sale at www.davesguitar.com. Would it be worth it to stop by and play it if I were in the area?

I've been thinking about getting a baritone lately. It's interesting that you chose a semi-hollow body, especially one that's so lightweight. When the whole guitar weighs in at a mere 2.5 kg, which is a great feature IMO, I'd think there's a danger of ending up with some neck-heaviness. Do you feel anything like that, or is that a non-issue? You can say you to me.

I love the feel of oiled mahogany. petemk1: i didn't choose the body, the body choose me! USA Custom Body Specials! I was initially worried about neck heaviness and yes it is a little bit neck heavy. Just a tad. I'd blame it on those Planet Waves locking tuners though.
