Posts: 7 Fri, Sep 11, 2009 10:05:31	Tags : None Hello, My Strato Hot Rod Vintage '57 mounts two Samarium cobalt noiseless (neck-middle) bridge mounts mini-humbucker di marzio tone zone. I was pleased and satisfied with this pickup... but after having installed and played in my telecaster set of bill 280TN and 290TL, changed my mind completely!!! that clarity! that push! that attack! incredible dynamic!! wowowowowwow!! now emerging the problem: what pickups?? L-280 neck and middle L-290 bridge? L-280 neck and middle L-298 bridge? L-280 neck and middle L-45 bridge? L-45 neck middle and bridge? Other interesting combinations? L-200?? Seeking a sound blues and rock/blues, vintage in neck and middle,a little more modern to bridge. I get the same features as telecaster, clarity, push, attack, dinamic... thanks all! An L-298 in bridge position is less refined than a 290...really great for rock and blues. A full L-45 set is my personal favourite, with it's brilliant noiseless strat characteristics paired with unsurpassed high gain response. My trusty old twin rail L-250 XL serves as bridge pickup backup only since I got the L-45's. To my ears, most other brand's single coil sized humbuckers sound muddy and dull - even after serious amp tweaking to compensate for lacking high end response - compared to Bill's finest. I bet they're what you're looking for All the sparkle of the most beautiful vintage pickups in every position, but with a smoothness to the attack and unbelievable sensitivity to dynamics that make especially the bridge position invaluable for distorted sounds.

Posts: 67 Fri, Sep 18, 2009 13:27:06	I have used the L-290SL and the L-298TL. I currently use the L-200SL and the L-290TL. All of these pickups have enough punch for solos.
