What power supply are you using? And is that a looper in the upper right-hand corner?

It's a standar Boss power supply. No loop.

> "Out: TS7, Wasabi
In: Reverend Drivetrain II, Boss OC2 Octave, Boss GE7 Eq." I'd like to try a Drivetrain and an OC2. However, I'm not sure about EQ pedals, as I tend to think of them being a solution to a frustrating problem elsewhere in the signal chain. Exactly.
I'm not clicking with the Reverend Kingsnake. To my ears it is just a shrill, piercing amp. Even with bass maxed and treble all the way down played through a 2X12 cab - shrill to the point of being painful. The amp gets so much respect from knowledgable people that I feel as if it must be me - I must be missing something, or I just haven't found the right tweak yet. For now I'm going to continue to struggle for some kind of working relationship with the thing. Every time I read what sincere, level-headed professionals say about this item it seems to contrast with what I hear/feel/think. The contrast is so sharp it has gotten to the point where it inflames my self-doubt. I think "Does that sound good? Then what's wrong with me??" I'm starting to feel about this amp the same way I've felt about Les Pauls - I want to love it, but there is no 'chemistry' between us. I enjoy my Ultimate Chorus (SS) more than the Kingsnake. Weakness: unconquerable oxygen habit. ![]() |

Yes, I agree. Trust your ears.
I wonder as these things were likely rushed through production whether there's something not quite right with your amp? Maybe it would be worth talking with Joe Naylor and getting his opinion as to whether the sound you are getting is what you should expect? no actual board, as I play at home:
![]() Vox 847 wah - LOVE the growl! Digitech Death Metal analog distortion(for when I'm playing that style of music.) Digitech RP50 multi-effects - I use this mainly for the built-in tuner, delay, and phaser... |

Well, my board at the moment. It's definitely subject to change, and probably will soon.
![]() Maxon CP-101 compressor > Real Tube Overdrive (might come off soon if I pick up a fuzz) > Tim Overdrive > Dano Chicken Salad vibe (might not stay long... had room, so I put it on there... lol) > Maxon PH-350 Rotary Phaser > Boss RT-20 Rotary Ensemble > Diamond Memory Lane delay - expression pedal next to it controls the feedback level of the delay (this one will likely be staying, but I'm not positive - new addition as of last week) > Ibanez ADL analog delay (really like this pedal) Most of this is powered by the Godlyke Power-All (the Diamond and Real Tube have their own power). The wah on the board is just a placeholder until I get something else. It's an older Crybaby (from the 80's) - it sounds OK (not great), but is TERRIBLE at sucking tone when bypassed. I couldn't believe after I had it plugged in for a while and then unplugged it. A/B'ing the signal with and without the pedal made a huge difference. I'm maybe going to get an Area 51 wah kit to put in the enclosure, or I may try a Budda wah or something similar. I think that's it... lol |

I had that same issue with a Crybaby. They're pretty easy to mod for true bypass if you are handy with a soldering iron. I've got a link to a tutorial somewhere...

Update | #33 | ||
![]() Tonefactor Huckleberry Fuzz -> BYOC Ultimate Fuzz -> Budda Wah -> Maxon CP-101 Compressor -> Tim Overdrive -> Boss RT-20 (with Boss EV-5 expression pedal) -> Maxon PH-350 Phaser -> Ibanez ADL Analog Delay -> EH Deluxe Memory Man Delay I'm digging this, though I'll probably swap out one of the fuzzes, and maybe add a tremolo pedal at some point. Otherwise, I am pretty happy! |

Hi Alex,
Happy New Year! Check what radio button you have selected in the "Formatting:" line. Btw, I keep meaning to contact you to finally ship those pedals and things you received for me. Sorry about that! Aide toi et le ciel taidera (Aid thyself and heaven will aid thee) |

Something in the text I was typing was apparently being read as HTML - go figure.
I was fixing it right as you were typing your response... lol No worries on the pedals - they're sitting in a box ready to be packed up whenever you're ready. Happy New Year! |

Getting pedals in the right order | #38 | ||
|
Seeing this thread, maybe I could ask for advice here. What would people recommend as the best order for setting up the pedals.
I own the following pedals, all Boss - a BF2 Flanger, a CE2 chorus, a DS-1 Distortion, an OS2 Overdrive/Distortion, a DD5 Digital Delay and a PH3 Phase Shifter. I have no idea what makes the best ckain for effects so will be grateful for all comments |

Quote: Quote: Of course, you should always experiment to see what works best for you. That said, as a general rule, I would start with some basic guidelines. Robert Keeley has some interesting notes on this on his website. He even has a little phrase that he uses to remember a simple, logical order: Keeley Which Chain Of Effect Pedals Makes Life Easy Wah, Compressor, Overdrive, EQ, Pitch, Modulation, Level, Echo Using your effects, it would go something like this: W: PH3 Phase Shifter (per Keeley, phase falls into this category!) C: n/a * O: OS2 Overdrive/Distortion, DS-1 Distortion (order IMO) E: P: M: CE2 chorus, BF2 Flanger (again, order IMO, but to your taste) L: E: DD5 Digital Delay * If you have a high quality (quiet!) compressor, Keeley recommends it after the OD/Dist, but otherwise, in front is good. You see? I help you out with understanding the Byzantine world of UK soccer; you help me make sense of effects.
I'd been putting OD/Distotion at the end, and delay first, and something just didn't seem to work. Off to the garage to try this out! Many thanks! |
