The pickups are L280SN - L280SM - L298SL, My Strat was an American FatStrat Texas Special so I pulled the original pickguard out and built this one up.... which I'm glad I did!

Here is a quick shot of my Strat, I got the Cream colored covers which actually looks cool to break up the all white traditional look!

(This guitar now has a maple neck, i swapped it to the red/black guitar with the L-500XL, above.) Heavy Maple body, Nitrocellulose Lacquer finish, original Floyd Rose bridge; the usual setup of a 500k pot with some resistors to back it down to taste, wherever I want for the particular guitar, around 300-400k; neck is a flame maple with ebony and 6100 frets. |

Upgraded Hohner B2A Fretless Bass with new EB50s (L-500C and R with extended blades).
Redid the circuit as well. Pulled out the active EQ. It's all passive now, as per Bill's suggestion. Wired in a series/parallel miniswitch. Now also has 1 vol, 1 tone and a gibson 3-way pickup selector. ![]() All around, a big improvement to this funky little bass. It's a keeper, now.

I'm glad you think the fretless hohner looks good with EB50s. I'm still undecided as to whether the rails improve the look of it or not. It looks kinda like the frets on the bass have migrated from the fretboard to the pups
I'll let you know about the tone shortly. A "real" bass player has borrowed the bass for a few days and he's coming round tonight. I'll get his opinions on the new tone and post our impressions shortly, on a non-sticky thread. But for a quick answer, IMO both the EB50s and the removal of the stock active tone circuit have improved the tone greatly. |

Here's another. I picked this one up in South Korea. It's a Vietnamese guitar. I've searched far and wide for info on the manufacturer, but have found nothing. It's made of nice heavy/solid wood, neck-thru design and is silky smooth. Not bad for $250! I added a Tremol-No on the bridge. Locks the tremelo down. It's a dinky body. The whole guitar is about 4-5 inches shorter than my other guitars, but it's one of my favorites. Has a real jazzy feel to it.
It's got an L-500XL / 280M / 280N setup. I'm probably going to move down to a 500L on the bridge ![]() ![]()
