Here's a pic of my nephew's Epiphone Les Paul, newly equipped with Bill's pickups. They're L-500s, an XL in the bridge, and an R in the neck.

This is a Carlo Robelli 17in. archtop, made for Sam Ash by Peerless (who also makes Gretsch and D'Aquisto guitars) The neck pup is a Bill Lawrence L-450, the bridge is a Bill Lawrence USA L500XL. The switch is for parallel/series bridge pickup, custom pickguard. This guitar also sounds beautiful unamplified. You can hear this guitar at http://www.myspace.com/marcstager, tunes #1 #3, others are pre-Baldwin Gretsches. #2 & #5 is a late 40's Synchromatic with a Kent Armstrong pup, (#2 is miked), #4 (Andrea) is a 1961 Double Anniversary with gorgeous sounding Filter-trons. |

The new twin-blade L-45's have got to be worth a go! > "Any other good single blades out there?" Not to my knowledge.

Welcome, Guitar George (Hamer95). That guitar looks deadly. Glad to know the 500XL has worked out so well for you. Rock on!

nocaster wrote: Hey nocaster, Thanks, dude!! Hamer had Bill Lawrence pickups installed in their Chapparal super Strat guitars during the '80s which is where I got the idea for the BL pickups. I've seen a few Chapparal guitars with the OBL S-S-H pickups installed from some of the E-bay auctions. My Diablo with my Rocktron Vendetta amp head & 4x12 cab just sounds kick ass at rehearsals. I've also taken that guitar to the local jam night and blasted all the guys off the stage who were using the house guitarist's Squier Stagemaster w/ Dimarzio pickups. The look on the other guitarists' face when I fired up that Diablo w/L-500XL pickup with my VHT Pitbull 45/12 combo amp was surprise & jealousy. LOL Guitar George |

Hi, George! I recognize you from HC and the ADA site, too. I've been going on about Bill's pickups for quite a long time now, and I'm glad to see
you've joined the club. Now, can you help me work on 4X12? He's yet to be converted from the counterfeits.

I recently bought the L-500XL pickup to try out on one of my guitars and I'm impressed with its tone and output. Who is 4x12 and does he use the bogus pickup from that other company? Guitar George |

4x12 is Joey Carvalho from the ADA forum. I take it you haven't been there in a while, since I'm singing Bill Lawrence's praises there *all the
time*, and just did it again yesterday, in fact.
I have 7 of Bill's pickups in 4 different guitars, and I couldn't be happier with them. I'm constantly recommending them, and my nephew Dusty is now a believer too. His LP pictured in post #83 is now miles ahead of where it was, thanks to Bill's craftsmanship and my badgering! LOL

Ok I think it's my turn:
This is my Rich Perfect Bich. Bought approximately one year ago, I wanted to explore the capabilities of a 10 string instrument...I always admired the neck through construction and the descovery of this particular instrument intrigued me, unfortunately until recently you couldn't have a 10 strings without spending thousand of dollars, and I didn't want to risk such a high amount of money for a guitar that I might not have liked. This is the first run of korean made 10 strings, a good instrument, very well done, the perfect also has coil split and out of phase of neck and bridge pickup...I wanted a red one like Joe Perry but at that time I was told it was out of production,so when I saw these guitars back on ebay I got pissed. The Rockfields the guitar has as first equipment are honest and nice ceramic humbucker, probably better than the Gibson 496/500 combo, and tighter than Dimarzio SDs, but you know, Perry had Bill Lawrence so I wanted to try them. First, I contacted Becky Lawrence, but for a comunication problem I couldn't finalize the purchase, then I found a shop on ebay that had some NOS L-500 from the end of the 70s, I think...a pity that they just had L500R...so for the XL I had to wait until one of these popped up on ebay germany. The auction was, like going to war, but in the end I won for a quite high price, 83 euros excluding shipping, and sadly came without ring. It was thin blades like the BLUSA, but a chrome case, after some research I concluded it is one of the last producer under LSR in '83 or '84. The L-500s sound differently than what I expected, they aren't SO high output, I think my Flying V with the stock ceramics has more signal, but they're extremely defined and clean they are very mellow and sweet, although with the varitone it seems they don't get along that much, because they lose quite a lot of signal. With the chrome case they look killer! I love then on the Bich. Besides the PUs, I changed the pegs installing 6 Grover super rotomatics like a REAL Bich and added three black reflector knob, in order to complete the upgrade I'd like to fin four online Grovers and the active circuit but it would require heavy modifications on the guitar, that anyway works nicely the way it is. |

I think I've to add this. Bought a Gibson Flying V. '84 reissue, silverburst...the guitar came with the very well known 496/500 combo, that is tought to be for '80 metal only, it seems. I replaced them with a pair of OBL-900, hoping that they would have sound like the old L-90. Completed the installation today...clean sounds are great! For the distorted, it seems that they're more rock oriented than metal, although the old pieces of the NWOBHL work fine on this guitar. Not too hot, look great, anyway. |

Hi Everyone,
After a hiatus from playing, I thought I'd start up again. To get me motivated, I decided to make a new guitar. I started with a plank of Leopard wood. It's kind of a Stratified PRS body. Here is a concept drawing and an actual progress photo from a few days ago. I bought an L45 &L90 for the p'ups. Also has Wilkinson VG300 bridge and locking tuners. I'm keeping my fingers crossed as to how it will sound.

Finally got the guitar assembled. I'm not sure I'm happy with the thickness of the neck. I'll play with it for a while and see if it grows on me,
or irritates me.
