No Q-filter. Just two L-90 pickups and the Schaller Hannes bridge.
They sound truly amazing - unlike anything I've heard before. Ron Kirns sums it up best as being "high fidelity" ! All mistakes I make while playing are too, too clear - I'm being "forced" to become a better player. |

this is my first guitar that I built. I built it through a community class at my local university. The class time was about 2 months long and met once a week
for 2.5 hours. I created my own logo to go on the headstock. The body shape is PRS type with a Ibanez S-series type carving front and back. The neck is set
at a 2 degree angle and is somewhat chunky. The headstock angles back about 14 degrees. The string sustains forever.
Here are the specs. 25.5 scale length Woods, Padauk (body and neck) finished with a penetrating oil and wax Ebony fingerboard Stainless Steel frets, TusqXL nut Double acting truss rod Planetwaves locking, self-trimming tuning machines Gotoh 510 wrap-around bridge/stop combo L90 pickups, 4H neck, 6H bridge

The class was given at the Oregon State University, but not as a credit class. It was through their Student Union Craft Center. The class did not give you
the guitar plans to make. You had to design it yourself. One kid in the class wanted a "Les Paul". The other ones were building basses. It worked
out really well and sounds incredible. If I hadn't had the guitar designed prior to going into the class, I would have never completed it in one term.

Alder body with figured and bound redwood top, very thin nitro finish with natural relic'ing, Allparts TMNF-Fat neck, sperzel tuners, Wilkinson half tele
bridge, CTS pots, switchcraft 3 way switch and jack, and of course, BL Wilde L-450s, 2.4 neck, 3.6 bridge. This guitar sounds like a tele should sound to me,
with the output I want.
Interestingly, I've had many a pickup in this guitar, and none picked up 60 cycle interference like the Lawrences. When I wasn't touching the strings, they buzzed like single coils. I had to shield the pickup cavities in order to cut down on the hum. The additional shielding cut the hum down to an almost inaudible level, and is only present when the volume is all the way up and I'm not touching any metal parts. |
