I just got a 70s/80s Bill Lawrence L-500 Rhythm pickup on ebay and need some help with wiring. I assume its the original pup from BL as it looks exactly like the picture on Bills website with the chrome surround in cream.
Im thinking of swapping the original pup on my Les Paul with the L-500. I assume that the L-500 rhythm is equivalent to the current L-500R model which goes into the neck position. I wanna do a straight swap for the neck pup.
However, the BL has 4 wires on it, red, white, black, and silver (from memory not looking at the pup now). The wiring diagram on the little box that came with the pup is for split coil setup. If I want to use it just as a humbucker, what do I do with the split coil wire? Do I have to change the caps on the LP? Do I just wire according to the original wiring on the LP and do a direct swap?
Any help will be appreciated. Thanx
