My steel came with a single L-250XL stock. While it is very clear and powerful sounding, I'd like to get more variety out of the instrument, including some Strat-like sounds.
Basically, I'm going for a David Lindley sound (minus his talent and ability, of course), but on some tunes, I'd like to get more Fendery tones. Is a Q-filter the answer, or should I be looking at an L-290 or even a 280?
I play mostly alt-country/Americana stuff, so I'm not going for a traditional lap steel sound. Any thoughts are appreciated.
