Hey guys, just got my all-black 500x's today - they look awesome! Wanted to ask how to test the output of my pickups with a multi-meter? Thanks!

I don't think anyone here knows the resistance for any of the 500 models or else the information probably would have been shared before (others have asked
recently). Resistance isn't related much with output, and I don't know of a way you could measure inductance - I believe you need a special meter not
widely available. Did you order from Bill and Becky? If you know what models you ordered (probably labeled appropriately on a small sticker on the backside of
each pickup), the inductance ratings are contained in the sticky.

We don't think DC resistance means much, which is why we rarely talk about it. For us, it's only a means of identifying the model of used pickups. A
while back I recall someone was going to provide the data to publish a table for such identification purposes, but nothing has been forthcoming.

For DC resistance in series (humbucking mode), join the red and green wires and measure the resistance across the white and black wires. However, as the
others have said, you can't really compare the DC resistance of BL noiseless pups with other pups and expect to get an idea of BL pickup output vs the
other pup.
If it's not already lablelled on the pup, DC resistance would be a good way to identify which inductance model of pickup (e.g. L500XL, L500R, etc.) you might have. However, as the others have said, the DC data for the different inductance models are not available on the website yet. |
