One-piece bodies are especially prone to cupping, which is why pine bodies are often plied.

The Glendale stuff certainly looks impressive. And of course they would rave about their own stuff.

Agathis would be nothing new to the Squier Tele range, so I would think it unlikely that pine = agathis. They'll surely use something softer than that, and very likely real pine. It's not as if pine is an expensive or rare wood, or one that takes that long to grow. It is certainly extremely plentiful down my way, and is a common building and furniture making wood - despite the fact that it is so prone to warping. However, I can't think of a single local guitar maker using it; probably because it's so unstable in humid climates, and I suspect because it is also such a common wood that would be considered the opposite of exotic.
