Posts: 1 Fri, Jul 4, 2008 21:32:29	Tags : None Hey all, I bought a 500XL and 500R pair a couple of years ago..best decision I ever made. I just recently purchased another guitar and would like to get hold of another set of those. Looking at the newly redesigned site, well, quite frankly, I'm confused! Hard to tell if you can actually purchase anything from them right now. The site is very hard to navigate and there's not alot of product info (i.e. options, etc.). And this was for a guy who KNEW what he was looking for! Are the XL and R still available? Are they still called that? I would like to place an order soon.....should I call to place it? The L-90s and the L-80s seem to be the recommendations of choice from Bill at this point. There's barely anything written on the L-80s here other than saying they're the reissue/reworked version of the Super Humbucker used in Gibson's L6S sans metal cover, etc. Talk to Becky/Bill before ordering!

What would he be recommending them for?! ...Metal? Per our user reviews: 500's are still the king for high-gain rock and metal. For other hard rock, and pretty much everything else, it's L-90's. These are the two most versatile full-size humbucker options, with the 90's considered as having the edge, except at the "top" of the spectrum. L-80's are also versatile, but you have to work out for what they become recommended over the 90's. But it remains a fact that 500's used to be recommended for those who wanted utmost flexibility and clarity, and that includes genres like blues. With the introduction of the 90's and 80's, naturally we have to re-think the recommendations. So, it must surely become: 500's for high-gain rock and metal; 90's for the very broad middle ground thru to hard rock, with more warmth than 500's; and 80's for the cleaner, brighter, lower gain applications. My question was mainly concerening getting ahold of the things as the website isn't real clear as the old site as to ordering them and the options, etc. But just for curiosity sake, I'll check out the l-90's. Thanks for the recommendation! What are the options as far as the l-90's go? (See, this is the kind of stuff I'm talking about, little to no info on the products.)
