Matthew Janopaul has resigned as president and chief operating officer of Fender Musical Instruments Corp. He has been with Fender since 2005.

The privately held Scottsdale-based musical-instruments manufacturer is known as the company that helped launch rock and roll with guitars like the Fender Stratocaster.

"I thank Matt for his valuable contributions to this company and wish to particularly recognize his successful navigation of our recent major acquisitions," said Bill Mendello, Fender's chairman and chief executive officer.

Earlier this year, Fender acquired Kaman Music Corp., said to be the largest independent distributor of musical instruments and accessories in the United States.

Janopaul will remain in his job until September, when he will return to Northern California and pursue other business opportunities.
